Most of the models in this book are suitable for a beginner to create. But I would suggest having a practise first by making a simple model of a mechanic or painter in an 'all in one' overall. When you discover how simple it is to make him you will have the confidence to complete the man in the dinner jacket or perhaps the gardener.

The fun really starts when you begin to make the model look like the person you are giving the cake to, i.e hair colour and style, glasses and physical appearance - stout, short, tall, thin.

The cakes bases range from very simple i.e the skier, to the more complicated, but they can of course be adapted to your level of skill, and new designs can also be created by using various aspects of various cake designs, e.g the footballer or the man in the T-shirt and shorts could be sunbathing on the bonnet of his car, or the gardener could be asleep across a big vegtable patch, resting against a spade, while lots of rabbits eat everything!
